Asian spiny toads are a terrestrial species native to South and Southeast Asia. These toads can get up to 3-7 inches. Females being larger. Due to their size they won’t require too large of an enclosure but still a decent size. Asian spiny toads can live up to 10 years in captivity making them a big commitment pet. Asian spiny toads can make good pets but just like any amphibian, they are going to be a “look-but-don’t-touch” type of pet. Frogs in general tend to dislike handling and will try to get away if possible. Frogs and toads have sensitive skin and when being handled, the oils on our hands are actually harmful to them. Asian spiny toads do however secrete a toxin when in distress that can cause severe irritation to the skin or cause serious problems if ingested.
