Red tegus are a terrestrial species that can get 3-5’ (Females being smaller) native to South America. Due to their size and active nature they will need a large enclosure. Red tegus can live 15-20+ years making them a big commitment pet. These tegus are for the experienced keeper as they do require training to become docile and also be cautious of their feeding responses. When properly raised, they can become incredibly affectionate, interactive companions, though they require a significant investment of time, patience, and effort to reach that point.
