Hermit crabs are a terrestrial species, though they do climb structures. They can get 2-6” native to the ocean floors world wide. Due to their active nature they will need a large enclosure. They will also require constant access to both fresh and saltwater to submerge themselves in. Hermit crabs can live 10-50 years with excellent care making them a big commitment pet. Hermit crabs can make good pets for first time pet owners but each one will be different. Hermit crabs possess surprisingly distinct personalities, ranging from bold, curious explorers to timid and introverted. Some will even tolerate handling.
